What would you do in the First 5 minutes of an emergency?

David and Ken began their law enforcement careers in 2011, meeting on their very first day at the Academy. Bonded by a shared commitment to protecting others, they quickly recognized a fundamental challenge: first responders often arrive after a crisis has already unfolded. Real change, they believed, required preparation before the emergency happens.

 

Over the years, they witnessed the rise of active shooter incidents, severe weather emergencies, and other threats impacting schools, businesses, houses of worship, and healthcare facilities. Determined to shift the focus from response to prevention, they each expanded their expertise:

• David worked with the Town of Greenwich Department of Health, developing community Emergency Preparedness Plans.

• Ken served on a Police Department school safety and crisis planning committee, gaining first-hand experience in protecting vulnerable locations.

 

Together, they founded First 5 Consulting to deliver expert emergency preparedness training, planning, and consulting across New York, New Jersey, and the Tri-State Area. Their mission is simple: help organizations strengthen safety, build resilience, and ensure staff are ready to act confidently in the first five minutes of any crisis.
